3 things you are doing that will stop your home from selling
There are 3 things you may be doing that are stopping your home from selling. Make sure you prioritise dealing with the following:
Clutter & Oversized Furniture
Oversized or too much furniture will detract from your buyer’s experience, making it hard to see where they could place their own belongings and making rooms feel smaller than they actually are. It is a great idea to ask a relative or friend for some space in their garage or consider a rental space to use for storage of bulky items for the sale period. Garage sales and online selling is also a great way to earn extra cash and free up much needed space to give your home a more spacious appearance.
Odours & Pets
We all love our pets but not necessarily the hair and odours that sometimes go with them. Consider leaving them with friends during open house periods and possibly boarding if pet hair is a real problem for your indoor pets. If this is not an option for you, make sure all rooms are thoroughly cleaned and aired prior to viewings. It is also a wonderful idea to take Rover for a walk when your home is being shown.
Poor Maintenance
It is a telling scene when you arrive at a property to see a broken screen door, missing tiles, or an unkempt lawn. While property repairs can seem expensive it must be remembered that the cost if far exceeded by the gains when selling your home. Walk around your property and try and see it the way a potential buyer would, make a list and either DIY or enlist friends and family to help. Ideally employ a handyman to get your home into the best shape you can and reap the rewards.
