5 Home styling tips before you sell your home
Amazing Artwork
Here at the styling edge we LOVE the impact of art. When we style a room we are very aware of the layering required to create a beautiful space and for us it starts with our art. Whether we are using colour or a monochromatic look, the art is the jumping off point for our signature look.
Considered Lighting
Nothing can compare with light. Never underestimate its power when styling your home. Lighting changes the dimensions and the mood of your home and light creates the illusion of space. Lamps are a great way to create light; open curtains and raise blinds; let the sun shine in! This is our philosophy!
Soft Furnishing Choices
If you really want to add personality to a space, you need to embrace the concept of soft furnishings. A rug, a throw, some cushions, this is what will give your space its own look. Think about colour and what is current, soft furnishings do not have to stand the test of time and can change with the seasons while having a huge impact on your decorating style. Buy magazines, check out your local home wares shops and keep abreast of the current trends.
Plants and Flowers
When surrounded by plants and flowers we are happy and inspired. Nature is our greatest designer and inspiration and you simply can’t get it wrong with her wonderful sense of style. Use plants in bathrooms to create a serene and calm feel, use flowers in living areas to introduce colour and fragrance. An inexpensive but timeless tool we can use to create emotion in our homes when styling.
Bedding and linen
Take the time to learn how to make a bed. Crisp corners and beautifully placed pillows can completely change the look of a bed. Practise making your bed, get the pillow placement right and photograph it so that you can repeat the look. Clean white bedding and interesting cushions can transform a bedroom in minutes at little expense. This is not a skill you are born with but it is something you can learn, it can also be the difference between a stylish and inviting room and an ordinary space.
